Before fusing a gold Jewel, count the whole Lords Mobile gear set

Four purple Jewels can contribute more than one gold Jewel. Two worked examples show when upgrading helps and why you must check the slots across your equipped set first.

In Lords Mobile, fusing four purple Jewels into one gold Jewel can reduce your equipped set's bonus. One stronger Jewel does not always replace four working ones. The fusion and slot rules in IGG's Jewel guide help explain why. Before upgrading, compare the total of your chosen stat across all pieces you wear at the same time.

Distinguish a Jewel's type from its grade

The original image from IGG's Jewel guide shows three different Jewels for Ranged, Infantry and Cavalry ATK. All three have gold backgrounds, although the stones themselves are pink, purple and red. The crystal's own colour does not indicate its grade. Check the bonus name and the card's grade.

The same guide describes dividing a Jewel into four of the preceding grade and fusing them back again. There is an important restriction: you cannot inlay the same Jewel more than once into a single piece of equipment, even at different grades. Four copies therefore need to be spread across different pieces.

Case one: four pieces need the same Jewel

Take a worked example where a purple Jewel provides +12% ATK for the chosen troop type and a gold Jewel provides +20%. These are the values used in Marks Angry Review's Cavalry ATK example; the IGG image above also shows +20% for gold Jewels. Check the game's tooltips for your own replacement. Here we count the same bonus and keep every other stat unchanged.

Suppose you have four suitable pieces equipped simultaneously, each with a free slot for this Jewel. Four purple Jewels provide 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 48%. Fusing them into one gold Jewel leaves 20 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 20%. One card's grade has increased, but these slots now contribute 28 percentage points less to the set.

This compares additions to a stat. It does not mean your army will deal 2.4 times as much damage: a battle result is not the ratio between two Jewel totals. The narrower, useful conclusion is that fusion removes three working bonuses in this particular set.

Case two: the set is full and you have spares

Now the same four pieces already contain four purple Jewels, contributing 48%. You have accumulated three more matching Jewels in your inventory. Fuse the three spares with one installed Jewel, then put the resulting gold Jewel back in its place. The other three pieces retain their existing Jewels.

The result is 20 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 56% instead of 48%: an eight-percentage-point increase without emptying any slots. The right time to move to gold therefore depends on more than possessing four stones. What matters is how many useful Jewels remain in your equipped set after fusion.

The Cabinet screen below shows an inventory list of Jewels. It is an archived game screenshot from Marks Angry Review, rather than our own account. Its client version and capture date are unspecified. The card's background colour indicates grade; the quantity beside a stone does not by itself tell you which equipment it can improve.

Why four free slots are not the whole answer

Four slots across different outfits do not provide four simultaneous bonuses. Count the set you actually equip for the task. If only two suitable pieces have space, two purple Jewels contribute 24% in our example; copies left in your inventory do not enter that total.

If adding the new Jewels requires removing other useful ones, subtract their contribution too. The 48-versus-20 comparison holds only under the stated conditions: the same bonus, suitable separate pieces, free slots and otherwise unchanged gear. This calculation alone cannot justify replacing HP with ATK; that compares different stats.

What to check before fusion

Open the relevant set and write down two totals: what the affected slots provide now and what will remain after replacement. Note which stones are spare, which must be extracted and what the game requires for extraction. Do not assume that step is free. Plan the entire replacement before confirming any action.

When choosing your next source of improvement, the Mana and artifacts guide explains why different kinds of percentages cannot be compared by their size alone. Jewels present a simpler task: compare the same bonus within one set. Upgrade the grade when the completed replacement actually gives the set more of the stat you need.
