MPL PH play-in: why one lost series means elimination for ONIC and Aurora
A pre-event guide to the 21 October 2026 ONIC PH–TNC and Aurora–Smart Omega series: Bo5, the routes to Falcons and Liquid, and the lower bracket.

The MPL Philippines play-in scheduled for 21 October put ONIC PH, TNC, Aurora and Smart Omega in elimination series: the losers would leave the tournament. The MPL series-and-games guide explains the distinction that matters here: losing one game is not losing a series. This pre-event guide preserves the bracket and schedule checked on 20 October 2026; it does not report the subsequent results.
21 October: two series with different opponents
MPL PH is the Philippine professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang league. MOONTON's S18 playoff announcement gives the dates as 21–25 October 2026 at PhilSports Arena in Pasig. This stage determines the Philippines' representatives at M8. The source article was prepared before those winners were known.
ONIC PH — TNC: scheduled for 21 October at 15:00 Philippine time, or 10:00 Moscow time. This was Match 1 in the bracket. In the official schedule, select Playoffs, the tournament's deciding stage. At the 20 October check, the first-day row showed VS rather than a completed score.
Aurora (RORA) — Smart Omega (OMG): scheduled for 21 October at 19:00 Philippine time, or 14:00 Moscow time. This was Match 2. RORA and OMG are the teams' abbreviations on the graphics. Do not import the schedule of Indonesia's ONIC or Team Liquid ID: this is a different regional league.

Philippine time is UTC+8 and Moscow time is UTC+3, a five-hour difference. Thus 3:00 PM becomes 10:00 in Moscow and 7:00 PM becomes 14:00 on the same date. These convert the published slots, not a guarantee of a second-perfect broadcast start. The full original calendar preserves that snapshot; use the live site for later schedule changes and results.
Losing one game does not end the series
The first two matches were labelled Bo5 — first to three game wins, up to five games. At 0:1, a team has lost a game, but the series continues. Even 0:2 permits a comeback; either team's third win ends the series. The team losing the whole match is eliminated, not the first team to concede a game.
The play-in is the entry round before the upper bracket here. On the official diagram, only the winners of Match 1 and Match 2 advance. There is no lower-bracket route for their losers. “One lost series means elimination” therefore applies to those four first-day participants, not automatically to every playoff match.
Where the winners go and who gets a second chance
The bracket sends the ONIC PH–TNC winner to Team Falcons (FLCN) in Match 3 on 22 October. The RORA–OMG winner faces Team Liquid PH (TLPH) in Match 4. At the pre-event check, those calendar slots said TBD — to be determined. The routes were defined, but the play-in winners could not yet be named.

The upper bracket includes Matches 3, 4 and 5. The losers of Matches 3 and 4 drop into the lower bracket, meeting in Match 6 on 23 October, and retain a route onward. The first day's immediate-elimination rule therefore does not automatically apply to the matches against Falcons or Liquid.
The Match 5 winner advances to the 25 October grand final. Its loser goes to Match 7 on 24 October against the Match 6 winner; that series produces the second finalist. Match 7 and the grand final are labelled Bo7 — first to four wins, up to seven games. Earlier series on the diagram are Bo5.
Follow the route in the full original bracket. Winner and Loser refer to the corresponding series. Match numbers identify the next step without guessing a future pairing: find a team, then follow the line matching its result.
Where to find coverage and what to check
Open the official MPL Philippines YouTube channel linked by the league. Look for S18, Playoffs, 21 October and the relevant teams. Old seasons and recordings may retain LIVE in their titles; that word alone does not establish a current stream. The source article's 20 October check did not confirm a specific first-day broadcast URL.
Check the date, region and whether the schedule shows VS or a final score. Once a series ends, insert its confirmed winner into the next match. Reading the route explains what the result means without presenting a prediction as a confirmed participant.
The calendar and bracket were reviewed on 20 October 2026, before the matches. This translation preserves that pre-event scope rather than presenting the fixtures as new live information. Commentary predictions were not used as results; the tournament patch, builds, Russian-language coverage and future M8 representatives were not established. Consult the updated MPL Philippines calendar for changes and completed scores.
