PUBG Mobile 4.7 beta: why you cannot upgrade a glyph mid-match

A random starting skill, altars, feathers and three levels: how glyphs work in the 4.7 beta, and why the aerial dash is a separate ability.

The official PUBG Mobile 4.7 Beta 2 announcement contains an easy-to-miss rule: higher-level glyphs are obtained at random, and you cannot upgrade a glyph during a match. Here is where these skills come from, what feathers do and why the aerial dash is a separate ability.

These glyphs belong to PUBG Mobile Global's new themed mode. The Beta 2 rules were published on 10 October 2026 and rechecked on 21 October. This is a test version, so its content may change before release. Do not apply these rules to ordinary matches in the current release. The same announcement describes Erangel Subzero separately; its cold weather and satellites are not part of the glyph rules. Our comparison of Tactical Shield and the Thermal Protection Suit explains the Subzero item's different protection rules.

Starting skills, altars and opponents' crates

A glyph is a passive skill: its effect activates under the specified conditions without a separate activation command. Every player receives a random glyph at the start of a match. Some players also randomly receive the Aurora Pegasus item, a vehicle for travelling on the ground and in the air. The Beta 3 announcement dated 16 October describes a separate route to Pegasus through a Hero's Medal and the pedestal inside the Ancient Beast.

Multiple Glyph Altars spawn around the map. Interact with one to obtain a new passive skill at random. A random result does not mean you can select the ability you want. If an eliminated player held two glyphs, one of them drops at random; you can collect it from that player's crate.

You cannot turn Lv.1 into Lv.3 during the match

Lv. means level. Every glyph has Level 1, 2 and 3 versions, with stronger effects at higher levels. At the start, a Level 1 skill is more likely than a Level 2 or 3 skill. The announcement gives no exact percentages. If you receive Lv.1, do not expect to level that glyph up to Lv.3 in the same match: the rules explicitly rule out upgrading it during play.

Collecting a certain amount of Power Feathers increases your chance of obtaining a Level 2 or 3 skill. This improves the odds; it does not guarantee a high-level skill or upgrade one you already hold. The announcement does not state the required feather count. The 0/50 counter in the demonstration does not establish a universal rule that 50 feathers award Lv.3.

What each of the six glyphs does

  • Tactical Shield automatically generates protection when your Health falls below a threshold. When downed, meaning wounded and waiting for assistance, you can also use a small shield to block shots. Higher levels increase the trigger threshold and improve the shields' durability and duration.
  • Faster Healing speeds up using healing consumables and rescuing downed teammates. Higher levels make both actions faster.
  • Quick Reload increases reload and weapon-switch speed. The effect grows with the skill's level.
  • Supply Detection triggers a scan for high-quality supplies when you pick up supplies. Higher levels increase the scan range.
  • Armor Repair restores armor durability as you move. Higher levels increase the recovery speed and the maximum durability restored each time the skill takes effect.
  • Air Drop Prediction tells you where an air drop will appear before it lands. The location notice disappears after the drop is opened. Higher levels shorten the cooldown and provide advance warning.

The dash is a separate active ability

Aurora Flashstep is an active ability that provides a double jump and a short dash across the themed mode's map. An active ability requires a separate player action. The announcement describes it separately from the six random passive glyphs; having the dash does not mean you received a seventh glyph.

The movement frame shows a separate button. Do not infer the dash's exact distance, duration or cooldown from the video: those values are absent from the published rules used here. Open the original movement frame.

  • Check the name and level of your starting glyph: they determine its effect.
  • Distinguish obtaining another random skill from an altar or crate from upgrading a skill you already have.
  • Do not plan around a guaranteed Lv.3 from feathers: only an increased chance is confirmed.
  • Check the Beta Calendar in the Event Center before joining a test; its timing and content can change.

This guide uses the official Beta 2 rules and original video frames published on 10 October, rechecked for this English version on 21 October 2026. We have not tested the game client. Final release rules, exact probabilities, numerical skill parameters and the effectiveness of a particular combination are not confirmed here.
