Stingray Bubble is back in PUBG Mobile: what changed?
The 16 October patch confirms Bubble's return. Learn how it differs from a Water Orb Grenade, what the two-seat Stingray can do and what remains unspecified.

Our Ocean Odyssey and underwater palace guide explains respawning and leaving the area. There is now another reason to revisit the mode's transport: the Gleaming Stingray has regained its Bubble skill. Here is what the patch confirms, and why similar-looking water effects should not be confused.
The PUBG MOBILE team's 16 October 2026 patch notes explicitly confirm Bubble's return. That is later confirmation than the 10 October post, which only promised to restore the skill in a future update. Its planned '10/13' heading alone did not prove that the ability became available on 13 October.
What exactly returned?
Bubble is the Stingray's skill. In the original official Version 3.3 announcement, the driver could fire bubbles that temporarily trapped enemies on hit. That is a historical explanation of the skill's purpose. The new post confirms its return but does not specify current trap duration, cooldown or separate balance changes.
The same patch fixes a problem that prevented players from placing the Stingray in the themed area. A separate fix concerns the Water Orb Blaster, a device for travelling through water orbs, and the Whale Escape Pod, which transports a team. A particular sequence of actions left the view-control button open incorrectly. Those are separate patch-note entries, not a description of a new Bubble effect.
Two seats: the Stingray and whale carry different loads
The Ocean Odyssey return announcement describes the Gleaming Stingray as a two-seat vehicle. It can travel through the new underwater areas and fly. A passenger can shoot during flight, but not underwater. Whether you can fire therefore depends on the vehicle's position, not merely on carrying a weapon.

The original frame shows the blue Stingray on the right. In the centre is the Whale Escape Pod, a separate relocation item that can take an entire team to the Playzone. Do not expect a whole squad to fit on the two-seat Stingray simply because both travel above the map. Open the complete original frame.
The Stingray Core is the item used to store and summon the vehicle. You can store the Stingray in that form from a distance, then summon it again from the quick-item menu. In water, you can mount it directly. These are the basic vehicle rules in the return announcement; the 16 October post does not replace them with a new detailed control guide.

The Themed Vehicle section at the bottom of the screenshot separately states the two-seat limit, the restriction on firing underwater and summoning through the Stingray Core. The explanation above covers those conditions; open the full-size original rules to read the small print.
Stingray Bubble and the Water Orb Grenade are different
The Water Orb Grenade is a throwable you can pick up. It creates a large water orb at the point of impact. For this item, the official announcement specifically tells trapped players to swim to the edge to escape. That is a rule for the grenade. Do not automatically apply it to the Stingray's Bubble: the 16 October patch notes do not explain how to escape that skill's effect.
Three checks before a match
- Are you playing Ocean Odyssey on Erangel in Ranked Mode? That is the map and match type specified for this Global return; the wider map list from Version 3.3 does not apply here.
- Which object are you using: the two-seat Stingray, the team-carrying whale or the Water Orb Grenade? They support different actions.
- Does the current client explain how Bubble works? Do not plan an attack around exact durations or cooldowns from an old video or an unverified tip.
