Viking Rise Pirate Treasure: bonus Crystals do not give Key Shards
Bonus Crystals do not increase your Key Shards, and earning and spending have different timers. Read the archived IGG rules before calculating the cost of the floors.

Bonus Crystals do not earn Key Shards in Viking Rise Pirate Treasure: the event counts eligible purchases, not every increase in your balance. Our Crystal Card guide separates the initial amount, bonuses and daily portions. Here we examine which purchases count and why spending shards has a later deadline than earning them. These examples are from 5 October 2026; the event page displayed “Event has ended!” when checked on 22 October.
Shards come from eligible purchases, not your total balance
A Key Shard is this web event’s consumable for opening chests. It does not replace Crystals in the in-game store. Under the archived IGG rules, while the Key Shard earning countdown runs, each Crystal bought at the official vr.igg.com/store earns one shard. Bonus Crystals are excluded.
IGG’s example is a purchase of 9,999 Crystals with 500 extra: it gives 9,999 shards. The Crystal total is 10,499, but counting that many shards would be wrong. The extra 500 remain a purchase bonus, not additional chest openings. This explains the rule; it does not promise that bonus on every current offer.
Do not infer eligible progress from your overall balance, which may include previous purchases and other sources. Nor should you apply one-for-one crediting to every store product. Crystal Cards have separate gift-promotion restrictions, covered in the linked guide.
The rules allow up to five minutes for shards to be credited after a purchase. If an eligible purchase has just completed, not seeing shards in the same second does not contradict that window. After it, compare the specific purchase, its base and bonus amounts, and the earning timer. You do not need another payment to check a purchase already made. Open the archived rules at full size.

Earning ends before chest opening does

On the official screen saved on 5 October 2026, the chest-opening timer below the map reads 3 days, 14 hours and 44 minutes. The Key Shard earning timer beneath the stock counter reads 2 days, 14 hours and 44 minutes. The gap is one day. This is a snapshot of that cycle, not the event’s permanent calendar. Open the archived timers at full size.
The earlier deadline ends the earning of new shards; the later one ends their use. Looking only at the large timer below the map could make you think purchases still qualify. Crediting is tied specifically to the Key Shard earning period.
Between those deadlines, plan around shards already received. Remaining chest-opening time does not extend the earning window. Check both labels on the active event page before acting: an old screenshot or promotional-post date does not replace the current countdown.
99 on the first floor is not the cost of the whole route
The right side of the archived screen shows floor 1/10 and a cost of 99 shards per opening. Those are different quantities. The event has ten floors, each containing secret treasure; finding it allows you to move on.
The rules separately state that opening costs differ by floor. Multiplying 99 by ten therefore does not give the cost of completing the event. Read your current floor’s price and compare it with your remaining shards first. One starting screen cannot establish an average route cost or a guaranteed number of openings before a desired prize.
Unused shards do not carry into the next event
After the chest-opening countdown ends, remaining shards become unusable and disappear. They do not carry into the next run. This applies to Key Shards, not your ordinary Crystal balance.
Before a last available opening, check the spending timer, shard count and current floor price. IGG specifies in-game mail for delivered game items. Opening a chest, unlocking the next floor and receiving an item by mail are separate steps; check the stated delivery channel for the reward.
