Why Doomsday players called for a spending boycott over Armament

Why Armament Transcendence prompted a player petition, and what IGG clarified: Nanocatalyst refunds and the shared 240-hour reset cooldown in version 1.61.0.

On 28 August 2026, a Doomsday: Last Survivors player petition appeared on Change.org calling for a halt to purchases. Its main trigger was a new stage of Armament development. Behind the cost dispute lay a question: how long would an assembled army remain useful before another round of investment?

What IGG added

The version 1.60.0 description, dated 26 August, introduced Armament Transcendence and Resonance. Transcendence unlocks at Shelter level 25. Nanocatalysts strengthen rank-upgraded Armament and devices of Legendary quality or above.

Resonance depends on the stars and number of equipped items; devices also depend on the hero type. In version 1.60.0, IGG stated that resetting or dismantling Armament returns Nanocatalysts spent on Transcendence. Version 1.61.0 added an important shared cooldown for the separate reset operation, explained below.

Clarification recorded on 29 September 2026. In the App Store description of version 1.61.0, IGG stated that Reset for Armament Transcendence returns all Nanocatalysts spent on the selected item's Transcendence. After one reset, no Armament can be reset for 240 hours — 10 days. This cooldown is shared, rather than separate for each item. The note confirms reset conditions; other promises in the September third-party account require separate verification.

This is unrelated to transferring hero development: Heroic Legacy exchanges the development of two eligible characters. Armament has its own reset conditions. Squad Equipment and auction sales are another separate system, to which hero Armament rules do not apply.

A striking figure is not a universal price

The petition's authors estimated that fully developing one hero's Armament cost more than $20,000. This is the petition authors' estimate, rather than a price verified by this publication. The petition supplies no reproducible table of every stage, pack and resource source that would make the figure applicable to every account.

For your own goal, calculate the route to one useful upgrade: your starting equipment state, missing Nanocatalysts and available sources. The screenshot below shows one step, rather than the cost of maximum development. Open the full-size screen.

Why the complaints went beyond one upgrade

Alongside Armament, the petition lists healing costs, hospital restrictions, matchmaking, battle lag and reward value. Its authors also ask for more war content and attention to feedback. These are their complaints, rather than results of an independent technical investigation.

Our interpretation is that players want to use the army they have assembled. If combat goals give way to constant catch-up development, another bonus can feel like another obligation.

However, the petition does not measure the scale of any spending halt. Signatures do not prove stopped payments, mass alliance departures or falling IGG revenue.

What followed the initial complaints

In a 27 August Reddit thread, players discussed two in-game letters about potentially expanding resource acquisition. Responses ranged from cautious optimism to disappointment. The letters themselves were not reproduced in that thread.

In another discussion, a participant listed the VIP Shop, Radar Station shop and Arena of Doom, later adding Doomsday Express. They did not record exact prices or quantities. These are useful places to check in your own client, rather than a ready-made weekly income calculation.

On 6 September, community site DoomsdayLS published a third-party account of September and October plans: extra resource sources, a separate Nanocatalyst reset, reward changes and matchmaking improvements. The original IGG statement could not be verified. This is a third-party report of plans, rather than a list of changes already released.

What to check on your own account

Start with the squad's role: which Resonance effect does a particular battle require? Choose the nearest upgrade that meets that need. Completing the entire new track is a different goal with different costs.

Then calculate the route to that one upgrade: what you already have, what is required and what you actually obtain in a week. Separate sources bought with game currency from those bought with money. This reveals whether the goal fits your usual play routine, without relying on a forum comment's promises.

Before resetting, decide which item's resources matter most: another reset immediately afterwards is unavailable. If redistributing several sets, account for the shared ten-day cooldown. Do not automatically apply it to dismantling: the version 1.61.0 entry specifically describes Reset. Check the conditions and timer in your own client before acting.

Agree on timing with your team. A requirement to obtain a bonus before the next event places a different burden on you than developing at your own pace. If expectations differ, use the questions for a conversation with alliance officers.

An update's usefulness is tested in battles, rather than by the length of a new progress bar. Check how much resource you can obtain, which upgrade it opens and whether that helps your squad. That is more reliable than applying a striking figure without an account-specific calculation.

Owners of Rider Armament face a separate question: how would an announced enhancement affect items already developed? The Flint update plan review separates developer promises from Honing transfer conditions that had not yet been announced.
