Noceros deals Physical damage: why use magic heroes in Lords Mobile?
A monster's attack type and its weakness are different things. Read an original Noceros screen and see why a stronger second hit does not prove that a new team is better.

You open Noceros's Monster Manual entry in Lords Mobile and see Physical. It is tempting to choose heroes who deal physical damage. That line describes the monster's own attack, while the entry below recommends hitting it with magic. The distinction also appears in IGG's hunting guide. There is no contradiction: what an enemy attacks with and what it resists are different questions. Reading the screen properly helps avoid spending Energy on the wrong choice.
Two lines that answer different questions
The original game screenshot published by BlueStacks shows Noceros in the Monster Manual, called Rino in IGG's Russian guide. DMG Type: Physical identifies the damage it deals. It does not instruct you to use physical attacks to defeat it.
The answer is in the description of its weaknesses. It says the thick hide withstands physical damage and explicitly recommends skills that deal Magic DMG. IGG's Russian hunting guide also lists Noceros as having high defence, with Incinerator and Elementalist in the suggested team.
The screenshot is archival: English localization, with no capture date or client version specified. It illustrates how to distinguish the manual's fields. Before your own hunt, open the chosen monster's information and read its entire weakness description rather than stopping at the first familiar word.

Choose skills for the target rather than a team out of habit
IGG's guide identifies Incinerator as dealing substantial magic damage. Elementalist also uses high magic attack; the English version additionally notes that he reduces the enemy's MDEF. This explains the direction of the choice against Noceros. Two suitable names, however, do not make a complete team for every account.
Suppose you always send the same favourite five heroes. After reading the manual, inspect their skills and check who actually deals the required damage. Compare them with the heroes available to replace them. Swapping a developed hero for a barely unlocked one just because the latter uses magic does not establish an improvement; you still need to compare the actual outcome.
IGG's list was published in 2019. We use it to explain the reasoning, rather than as a current ranking of the five best heroes. It does not establish how many hits your team needs today. Noceros's own description adds another detail: its crystal horns reduce the heroes' Healing Focus. Damage type is therefore only part of the task; watch how well the team survives too.
Do not turn this example into a rule that every physical-damage monster should be attacked with magic. The chosen target's specific defences and description matter. Darknest battles concern troop composition and counters instead, as explained in the Darknest without Cavalry example. A troop composition from that situation cannot simply be transferred to a hero hunt.
Why a stronger second hit does not prove the new team is better
Imagine hitting Noceros, replacing one hero and removing more health on your second attempt. It is tempting to credit the entire increase to the replacement. The bottom of the same game screen, however, says that consecutive hunts against one monster provide additional damage. The second attempt changed more than the team: it also continued the streak.
For a careful comparison, record the monster's name and level, hero lineup and development, hunting gear and streak status. Compare attempts under matching conditions; the first and fifth hits against one target are not a clean test of two teams. If conditions differ, record the limitation: damage increased, but its cause has not been isolated. This requires no guesswork about a hidden formula.
Start by finding which damage the target resists less effectively in its manual, then check your team's skills. Evaluate the result with the hunting streak in mind. Physical at the top of Noceros's entry is the beginning of reading the screen, rather than a ready-made instruction for your heroes.
