Grey Blades 73% stronger? Reading the Fallen Covenant test

16.6 million versus 9.6 million: where the 73% came from, why the fourth slot stays flexible, and why one rival-team total needs caution.

In Snow’s test, three Grey Blades dealt 73% more damage than three Infernal Blast heroes. That is a particular team’s result in Realm of Sorrow, one phase of the Fallen Covenant, not a promise of the same increase for your account. Start with how Grey Blades Sync works; here we examine the numbers and fourth-slot choice.

Where the 73% came from

The official Watcher of Realms channel published War Cabinet member Snow’s report on October 5, 2026. The author describes ten runs of each variant and compares average damage. The conclusion concerns Realm of Sorrow; the report does not verify performance in later phases.

The three-hero comparison lists 16.6 million damage for Grey Blades, 9.6 million for Infernal Blast, and 11.3 million for Esoteria Order. Against Infernal Blast, (16.6 − 9.6) / 9.6 × 100 is approximately 72.9%. Against Esoteria Order, the difference is about 46.9%.

Thus, 73% more is a rounded comparison against one reported lineup. It is not a skill bonus or a multiplier for every result on your account. Individual-run variance is not given, so those averages alone cannot establish how consistent the advantage was.

Check awakenings before comparing

The Legendary Grey Blades were tested at A0 and Epic Galloway at A5. A0, A1 and similar labels denote awakening levels, a separate attribute from the hero’s name; the Russian cards use their local equivalent. Infernal Blast is listed at A0/A1/A1/A1, and Esoteria Order at A0/A1/A3.

The author says tests used the same stage context to keep conditions as similar as possible. The six report cards do not provide complete gear and Artifact attributes or every individual result. Your awakenings and equipment cannot be assumed to match.

Establish the three-hero core, then choose a fourth slot

Snow’s recommended core is Amelia Ainsworth, Rorkesh, and Garroq. The Grey Blades table shows 8.2 million for two heroes, 16.6 million for three, and 20.8 million for four. Adding Garroq to the shown pair increased the result by 8.4 million, slightly more than doubling it.

The author points to frequent Bounty applications from Garroq and Rorkesh and their interaction with Amelia. Bounty is a target effect involved in Sync. Fast chain triggers suit the short phase, while Garroq also benefits against airborne targets. This explains the observed test; it does not prove superiority in every mode.

Adding A5 Galloway increased total damage from 16.6 to 20.8 million: 4.2 million, or about 25.3%. His own listed damage is 2.0 million. A team’s gain and one hero’s individual output are different measures; do not substitute one for the other.

Snow leaves the fourth slot flexible: additional damage or support for the battle’s requirements. If your lineup cannot survive a key moment, compare Galloway with a support hero by phase completion and final result. Extra millions in someone else’s table do not solve your team’s survival problem.

One rival-team total does not match its components

The four-hero Infernal Blast total is listed as 14.4 million, but individual values sum to 5.1 + 3.9 + 1.2 + 3.2 = 13.4 million. The author explicitly flags the discrepancy. Although Grey Blades show 20.8 million alongside it, calculating a precise advantage from that pair would be unreliable.

The three-hero 16.6-versus-9.6-million comparison does not contain that specific sum error. Rival teams also offer value beyond damage: the report names Numera’s damage reduction and Gretchen’s Rage recovery. Solcadens’ A1+ Vulnerability was excluded because he was tested at A0.

How to apply the comparison to your own account

1. Fix the phase as Realm of Sorrow, along with difficulty and lineup. Check awakenings, gear and Artifacts. Record who occupies the fourth slot and which problem they solve.

2. Change one element at a time. To test the fourth slot, compare the same Amelia–Rorkesh–Garroq core with Galloway and with your chosen support. Track total damage, survival and completion of the relevant phase.

3. Repeat the comparison, retain individual results and calculate the average. One lucky run is not the normal outcome. Ten runs describes Snow’s method, not a guarantee that any ten-run test will be precise.

If you own the core, the report provides a concrete starting point for testing a fourth slot. If a hero is missing, the percentages alone do not justify spending every resource to obtain them. Corven was absent from the recorded tests; substituting him and testing later phases remain separate tasks. For an October contest entry, also check eligible screenshots and servers: submission rules differ from a lineup-comparison method.
