Doomsday Flint upgrade: what happens to existing Honing?
The developers discussed improving Flint for Rider heroes. Read the original letter to separate the announced direction from unanswered questions about Honing and existing items.

A promise to improve Flint does not answer whether you will have to obtain your preferred stats again. Our Armament and reset conditions analysis explains why each operation's rules matter. Doomsday: Last Survivors has a separate proposal for the Rider set, but the displayed letter does not specify how existing Honing will transfer.
What the developers actually wrote
bM Tactics' video of 6 October 2026 shows a system letter from the DLS Team. Its Rider Armament section says the developers are considering improvements to the existing Flint set. The stated aim is to reduce acquisition costs and narrow the gap between Riders, Infantry and Ranged heroes in available set effects.
The letter compares this with Seafarer for Infantry and Section 9 for Ranged heroes, which provide additional effects when the required number of pieces is equipped. The displayed section gives neither a bonus list nor piece-count thresholds for the proposed Flint changes. Do not copy other sets' properties onto Flint.
Open the original letter with the proposal and timing.
The letter expected the work to be completed within the year and promised a separate announcement once the schedule was confirmed. This is a plan, not a precise release date or instructions for an already available upgrade. Mentioning an October update elsewhere in the general letter does not turn that separate estimate into an October Flint release promise.

Re-Honing or free transfer: neither is established
Players in the video's discussion ask whether existing items will need Honing again. Honing is the Armament process that produces the stats discussed here. The question matters: keeping a set's name does not by itself guarantee that earlier investment survives a system change.
The reviewed section does not specify retention of Honing, conversion of existing items, compensation or an additional upgrade charge. Lower acquisition costs therefore imply neither a free upgrade nor mandatory redevelopment. Both answers would be guesses.
Resetting Breakthrough to recover Nanocatalysts is a separate operation covered in the foundation article. Its rules do not establish how Flint will be transferred. A hero's Armament, its Honing and a future set effect are separate conditions to check in their own rules.
Record your current set first
After the letter, the creator shows his current set on Eren. It is a useful baseline: equipped items, present stats and rare effects. It does not show future Flint bonuses, and this account's percentages are not a standard for every player.
Open the original current-set screen.

Before changing the set, save its overview and individual cards for the items you intend to replace. The name, obtained stats and existing development should be readable. These screenshots help compare the account after an update; they do not themselves promise compensation from support.
If an upgrade is needed for an imminent battle, assess its current description and the price available to you. If a purchase makes sense only because of an unannounced Flint bonus, wait for that bonus's rules first. This is editorial advice about timing, not confirmation of a future discount or a recommendation to stop all development.
Four questions for the next announcement
Check which items change, what happens to Honing and existing development, whether resources or payment are required, and when the change applies in your client. Find the complete new effects and their activation conditions separately. Only then can you compare benefits with costs.
A good set also does not replace the right hero and role. Our Eren damage analysis shows why the recipient of an effect and the battle mode matter. Apply the same approach to Flint: read the specific conditions rather than filling gaps around the word upgrade.
This analysis is based on the letter and game screen in the 6 October recording; the exact client version is unknown. Later Flint transfer rules must be assessed on their own text. The letter confirms a direction of work, not the future of every Honed item.
